Tick control

Treatment of yards, gardens and green areas around houses, kindergartens and holiday homes.

Ticks live in grass and low vegetation and transmit diseases such as Lyme disease and tick-borne encephalitis. They are most active from spring to autumn, when children and pets spend the most time outdoors. Eko-tim d.o.o. treats yards, gardens and green areas around houses, kindergartens, schools and holiday homes in Sarajevo and throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Where ticks are found

Ticks do not jump or drop from trees. They wait on the tips of grass and low vegetation and latch onto a person or animal that brushes past. They are most common in tall grass, at the edges of yards and woodland, along hedges, under shrubs and in fallen leaves – places that are damp and shaded. A neatly mown, sunny lawn does not suit them.

How we work

We spray an approved biocide onto grassy areas, yard edges, hedges and places where ticks gather. The technician tells you how long children and pets should stay off the treated area.

The best time to treat a yard is at the start of the season, in late spring, repeating the treatment during the summer if needed. It helps to mow the grass a day or two before treatment so that the product reaches the ground and the lower layers of vegetation.

Treatment for kindergartens, schools and public areas

For kindergartens, schools, care homes and other institutions we treat yards and playgrounds before the season and, if needed, during the summer. We issue a certificate of the service performed after every job.

How to reduce the number of ticks

  • mow the grass regularly and clear fallen leaves
  • keep yard edges and hedges tidy
  • protect dogs and cats with anti-tick products, as advised by your vet
  • check children, yourself and your pets after spending time outdoors

If you find a tick

Remove the tick as soon as possible, because the risk of infection grows the longer it stays attached. Grip it with tweezers as close to the skin as you can and pull it out with a slow, steady motion, without twisting or squeezing. Do not put oil, alcohol or cream on it before removal. Disinfect the bite and watch it for a few weeks – if a spreading redness, fever or flu-like symptoms appear, see a doctor.
