Bed bug treatment

Bed bugs are small blood-feeding insects that hide in beds, mattresses and furniture and are active at night. They do not spread disease, but the bites itch, and poor sleep and constant worry quickly become a serious problem. Eko-tim d.o.o. treats bed bugs in flats, houses, apartment buildings and accommodation in Sarajevo and throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.

How to recognise bed bugs

• bites in a line or cluster, usually on the arms, neck and legs, noticed in the morning
• small dark spots on mattress seams, the bed frame and behind the headboard
• small blood stains on the bedding
• shed skins and tiny white eggs in cracks in furniture
• with heavier infestations, a distinctive sweetish smell in the room

An adult bed bug is brown, flat and the size of an apple seed. If you are not sure what you have found, send us a photo on Viber or WhatsApp.

Why one treatment is not enough

Bed bugs are among the most resilient pests. Their eggs are protected from most products, and a female lays several hundred in her lifetime, so new bed bugs hatch even after the adults have been killed. That is why a single treatment, let alone a shop-bought spray, rarely solves the problem.

How we work – three cycles

We treat bed bugs in three cycles: the first two treatments are 48 hours apart, and the cycles are 7 to 10 days apart. This also kills bed bugs that hatch from eggs in the meantime. We apply approved biocidal products in a targeted way to where bed bugs hide: beds, mattresses, furniture, skirting boards, cracks and sockets. When the work is done, we issue a certificate of the service performed.

180-day guarantee

Bed bug treatment comes with a 180-day guarantee on the service. Before the treatment you get clear instructions on how to prepare, and the technician tells you when and how you can return to the space.

What not to do while you wait

• do not spray shop-bought products yourself – bed bugs then scatter into other rooms and walls
• do not move to sleep in another room, as you will carry bed bugs there too
• do not throw out furniture or mattresses before the treatment – this spreads bed bugs through the building
• do not take things from the infested room to other flats, holiday homes or relatives

Apartment buildings, hotels and short-term rentals

In apartment buildings, bed bugs move from flat to flat through pipes, wiring and cracks in the walls, so neighbouring flats sometimes need treatment too. For hotels, hostels and short-term rentals, where guests easily bring bed bugs in their luggage, we also arrange regular inspections. For cockroaches, ants, fleas and other insects, see our insect control service.
